Natella Rakhmanina, M.D., AAHIVS, Ph.D., is a pediatric HIV medicine specialist. She focuses her research on epidemiology and treatment of HIV infection in children and adolescents. Her particular areas of interest include pharmacology and pharmacogenetics of antiretroviral therapy in pediatrics. The primary goal of this clinical research is to optimize and individualize treatment of HIV infected pediatric patients. Dr. Rakhmanina has also completed several projects on epidemiology of pediatric HIV infection and is the leading investigator on the study addressing the acceptance of the rapid HIV testing in healthcare settings by the parents, caregivers and adolescents in Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.
Dr. Rakhmanina is a preceptor at MPH program at School of Public Health and Health Services at the George Washington University (GWU) and is a member of the GWU HIV/AIDS Institute. She is also a Professor of Pediatrics at GWU's School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
