Dinesh Pillai, M.D., is a pediatric pulmonologist at Children's National and the Co-Director of the Severe Asthma Clinic and Program. He earned a bachelor's degree from Washington University at St. Louis, and a medical degree from St. George’s University. He completed a residency at The Infants and Children’s Hospital of Brooklyn at Maimonides Medical Center. After his residency, Dr. Pillai completed a pediatric pulmonary medicine fellowship at Children's National in 2009.
Dr. Pillai is the recipient of the NIH K12 Lung and Genomics Career Development Award. He is associate professor of pediatrics and integrative systems biology at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He is an investigator in the Center for Genetic Medicine Research at the Children's National Research Institute. His research interests include identifying genetic modifiers in airway inflammation and asthma and his clinical interests are in asthma, complicated pneumonia and interstitial lung disease.
