Douglas Postels, M.D. M.S., is an Associate Professor of Pediatric Neurology at Children's National Hospital and The George Washington University.
He received a medical degree from the Loyola University, completed a residency in pediatrics In the US Air Force, and a residency in pediatric neurology at Washington University (St. Louis) and the State University of New York in Stony Brook. He has previously worked at Ochsner Clinic (New Orleans), Presbyterian Health Systems (Albuquerque), and on the faculty of Michigan State University.
Dr. Postels transitioned from clinical practice into academic medicine in 2010 after work with Médecins Sans Frontières/ Doctors without Borders in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His research focuses on investigating the pathophysiology and testing new treatments for severe malaria syndromes in African children.
