Scholarship in the Center for Translational Research

Faculty in the Center for Translational Research (CTR) have a broad range of scholarship expertise. Given this breadth of faculty endeavors, the CTR has expanded its core concept to a model informed by EL Boyer.

Scholarship of discovery of new knowledge (Discovery)

Establishes new or revised theories, principles, knowledge or creations.

Scholarship of integration (Team Science)

Brings together knowledge from two or more disciplines or fields to create new insights and understanding.

Scholarship of application (Clinical Care)

Uses knowledge to address clinical issue/problem with the intended goal of advancing clinical care.

Scholarship of teaching (Education)

Develops the knowledge, skill or ability of others.
